In addition to serving as Gray, Gray & Gray’s Leading Partner, Jim DeLeo co-chairs the firm’s Merger & Acquisition Practice Group. In this role Jim works closely with many of the region’s most prominent private equity firms, search funds, and mezzanine lenders, and has the demonstrated ability to access capital.
Jim’s interest and experience in entrepreneurial finance allows him to go “beyond the numbers” to support clients seeking to buy, sell or merge their businesses. Fundless sponsors, search funds, and private equity firms with established funds all seek his advice when acquiring target companies in the middle-market. Several of the region’s leading investment bankers also seek out Jim to assist with sell-side due diligence when needed. Additionally, Jim developed the firm’s innovative “DealMakers” program that brings together active members of the M&A community in an environment that facilitates deal flow.
Jim has authored articles for several business publications, has served as a speaker at various events, and has been a guest commentator on the Radio Entrepreneurs radio program. Jim is also an adjunct professor of Accounting at Merrimack College.
Jim joined Gray, Gray & Gray in 1990, and was elected Partner in 2002. He is a graduate of Bentley University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Management. Jim also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Babson College, and a Master’s degree in Taxation from Suffolk University.
Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
