As a Manager in our Client Services Department, Marty Kirshner helps to lead the team in providing exceptional accounting, audit and advisory services for clients in various industries, but focuses primarily on energy-specific companies. Marty’s depth of experience and attention to complex details helps him to go beyond the numbers and serve as a strategic advisor for clients – from strengthening internal controls and ensuring a thorough analysis of financial statements, to utilizing client data and industry benchmarks to assist clients with identifying opportunities for increased profitability and long-term goal attainment. He also provides comprehensive tax planning and compliance services for corporate and individual clients.
Since joining the firm in 2008, Marty has served as a key member of Gray, Gray & Gray’s Energy Practice Group, where he was named niche champion in 2017, and a vital member of the Employee Benefit Plan Audits Practice Group. He has successfully directed many of Gray, Gray & Gray’s larger corporate audits, including numerous energy businesses. Marty oversees all aspects of the audit – from planning, to fieldwork, to reporting. Throughout each audit, Marty communicates directly with the client’s financial personnel and delivers regular in-progress reporting in a timely manner.
Marty is frequently called on to share his knowledge as a guest speaker and seminar leader at events. He recently spoke on strategic business planning for energy companies at the Maine Energy Marketers Association Conference, the New England Fuel Institute Energy Expo, and the Southern New England Energy Conference, which was sponsored by the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association, the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association and the Oil Heat Institute of Rhode Island.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Marty earned his Master’s degree in Accounting at Northeastern University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
